Odes of an Old Man

Jenn has planned a wonderful evening tomorrow night to celebrate my birthday. I am totally excited. It is going to be fun and great!!! My birthday is not until next Wednesday (the 12th), but mid-week celebration is just really hard, so Friday is the day. I am going to be 25, a QUARTER OF A FREAKING CENTURY!!!!!! Freaking old!!!! That is what this is. I am rapidly, rapidly creeping up on 30!!! Just seeing that number after I wrote it is just terrifying. 30!!! Those two numbers squished together just invokes thoughts of kids, soccer games, school plays, and everything else that goes along with it. I am excited about all of those things, but I like being in college, not the work, just the stage of life. Saying that I am twenty______ is really nice. It's not old, it's fun. I want to be part of the valley of the twenty-somethings (sex in the city fans will understand). It exudes excitement, late nights, irresponsibility, and just sheer craziness, that twenty-somethings can get away with that "adults" can not under any circumstances get away with. Can "adults" get away with hunting squirrel, water balloon launchers that shoot 400 feet, skipping work and class for the beach and just cause, staying up until 3 am doing absolutely nothing or just something, or anything else that is just insane? It is the end of an era, or is it? Older people say it is not how old you are it is how old you feel. I tend to disagree, because of the things that I listed before. Age a frame of mind. Well, I intend to find out. Adult or twenty something? I still have a few more years left in me I think. We shall see.

And you say I think too much?? Holy cow, you've got a ways until the dreaded thirty...just relax. (This coming from me is almost humorous!) However, this post made me laugh out loud SO hard that I startled one of my co-workers. Nice job! And happy early birthday! (I got the first email from birthday alarm and am trying to think of a nice gift to send. Korean? But who likes Korean stuff besides Korean? I'm at a loss. Let me know if you have any ideas for me!)
